Ecuador: share of self-employed workers 2012-2019

In 2019, approximately 51.2 percent of the employed population in Ecuador was considered self-employed, or having a job where the remuneration is directly dependent upon the profits derived from the goods and services produced. In recent years, the share of self-employed people in the South American country has been continuously increasing. Ecuador is among the Latin American and Caribbean countries with the highest rates of self-employment.
