Gut Dysbiosis May Contribute to the Suboptimal Immune Response to COVID-19 Vaccination in Kidney Transplant Recipients. REVAX

Using 16s-rRNA sequencing, we compared the faecal metagenome of unvaccinated KTRs (n=27) and controls (n=27) prior to vaccination with the adenoviral vector (ChAdOx1; Oxford–AstraZeneca) or the mRNA vaccine (BNT162b2; BioNTech; Comirnaty). SARS-CoV-2 and vaccine-specific immune responses were determined by SARS-CoV-2 anti-spike and anti-RBD IgG, and live virus neutralisation tests at baseline, and three weeks following the first and second vaccine doses.
