Minor (U12-type) intron metadata for thousands of eukaryotic genomes

Information about minor introns and their containing genes for thousands of eukaryotic genomes.

The columns in the file are:

Species: full species name

Abbreviation: species name abbreviation

Kingdom/phylum: taxonomic info as assigned by NCBI

Accession: associated accession ID (dependent on source)

Assembly: assembly ID

Tax. ID: taxonomic ID (NCBI)

Minor intron density (%): percentage of annotated introns which are minor (U12) type

Total minor introns: number of annotated minor introns

Total introns: total number of annotated introns

Corrected minor introns: introns with non-canonical boundaries in the original annotations which contain strong minor-like motifs nearby, "corrected" to the new boundaries; may be enriched for false positives depending on annotation quality

BUSCO (%): complete BUSCO score

Confident call: "u12-" = confidently lacking minor introns, "u12+" confidently containing minor introns; integrates information about BUSCO score and the presence/absence of minor snRNAs

Minor snRNAs: names of any minor snRNAs found in the genome

Intron position MWU p-value: the p-value of a two-sided Mann-Whitney U test between major and minor intron positions within their containing genes

Median minor intron position: the median position of minor introns within their containing genes

Median major intron position: as above, for major introns

Median MIG length: the median length (bp) of minor intron-containing genes (sum of the coding sequences)

Median non-MIG length: as above, for genes without minor introns
