Common garden (2022) and wild (2016-2024) colouration data for urban and rural great tits in Montpellier, associated with Sandmeyer et al article

These datesets compile data on (i) melanin-based colouration of wild great tits (Parus major) from urban and forest habitats in and around Montpellier (southern France) sampled during the reproductive season (April-June) from 2016 to 2024, and (ii) plumage colouration (melanin- and carotenoid-based) of great tits from urban and forest origin raised together in a common garden experiment in 2022. All data are provided as csv files accompanied by a README. All these data are used in an article by Sandmeyer et al on the mechanisms (i.e., genetic versus environmental) underlying the differences of colourations between urban and forest great tits.The associated scripts can be found on Zenodo (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1969292).
