Supporting data to Linking the evolution of floe sizes to the sea-ice deformation history using SAR imagery
收藏资源简介:
This record contains the processed intermediate datasets underlying a study that characterizes Arctic sea-ice deformation at the floe scale, using Sentinel-1 SAR imagery from the MOSAiC expedition to map floe-size distributions (from tens of kilometres down to tens of metres) and their evolution under deformation. The data support the paper's central result — that internal ice fracture redistributes floe sizes toward a divergence-dependent power law — and enable reproduction of its figures; the accompanying analysis code is published separately. The processed datasets included are: chords_roi_distortion_corrected.zip — per-image chord samples within 50×50 km boxes, enriched with divergence, shear, sea-ice concentration, and freeboard. The core dataset linking floe-size distributions to deformation rates. Used for Figs 6, 7, 8. chord_size_conversion.zip — the numerical statistical conversion (lookup tables) between floe chord distribution and floe-size distribution, derived from observed floe geometries. Underpins the floe-size mapping throughout; used for Figs 1, 2, 4, 5 and the downstream analyses in Figs 6–9. chord_size_conversion_evaluation.zip — synthetic test cases validating the chord-to-size conversion method. Used for Fig 4. floes.zip — per-floe geometries/outlines from the MODIS ice-floe-tracker library and the MEDEA (Stern) floe shapes, used to derive the observed floe geometries behind the chord–size conversion. Used for Fig 3. tendency.zip — floe-size redistribution tendencies and power-law fits as a function of divergence rate. Used for Figs 9.
