Value of investments in natural gas extractions in Egypt 2016-2021

In 2020/2021, the aggregated investment value in natural gas extractions in Egypt reached around 49 billion Egyptian pounds (2.56 billion U.S. dollars). This was lower than the previous year by three billion Egyptian pounds (156 million U.S. dollars). The country's share of investments in natural gas extractions was the highest in the petroleum sector. Specifically, of the 198 billion Egyptian pounds (10.34 billion U.S. dollars) total investment in the petroleum sector, some 118 billion Egyptian pounds (6.16 billion U.S.dollars) were directed towards natural gas extractions, representing almost 60 percent of the investments in the industry that year.
