VPRS 2241 Historical Material

The series consists of a variety of items relating to the history and activities of the Emily McPherson College, including photographs, school publications and artefacts such as the College badge. Some of the items were brought together around the time of the amalgamation with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1979 for inclusion in the Emily McPherson Collection. The collection something of a cross between an archive and a museum - was provided for in the amalgamation agreement between the College and the Institute. It was to be housed in the Institutes library (items intended for the collection are labelled archives or Emily McPherson Collection). Other items in the series were probably collected over the life of the College. It seems likely that some form of informal historical collection was maintained within the College from an early time.
