Mean petal length of Ranunculaceae
This file contains data collected on the mean petal length of plants belonging to the family Ranunculaceae. The trait is important to understand as it is crucial for classification and understanding species differentiation. These datasets can also provide information on global range shifts and aid in conservation efforts.
The data was collected through a literature search of existing papers on petal lengths of Ranunculaceae species. Scopus Web of Science is the primary site used for this search. Supplementary searches on Google Scholar were also done to find relevant data. The keywords used on these sites are "ranunculus" and "morphology". The relevant literature was used for this dataset. In addition, a few references were found through cross-referencing for a wider range of data. 30 species were included in this dataset.
The mean petal length is displayed in millimeters and relevant information including scientific name, accepted species name, longitude and latitude of the area where the sample was found, and the year when the sample was collected were included. In literature where there is a range of petal lengths, the mean of the range is calculated and recorded in the dataset. In addition to mean petal length, metadata was collected as supplementary information. The data include mean petal width (mm), mean number of petals, and ecological information of the species.
