Groundwater Resources in Africa

<div>This map shows the various groundwater resources in Africa, along with their rate of recharge. In Africa, groundwater is an important source of freshwater and it is essential <span style='line-height: 1.38461538461538;'>to supplement the surface water resources in a region that is increasingly affected by recurring drought. Africa is endowed with large and often under-utilized aquifer </span><span style='line-height: 1.38461538461538;'>resources, predominantly in the large shared subregional sedimentary systems of the Sahara and Central and Southern Africa.
