A compendious work on the Principles of Jurisprudence, entitled التحریر, by Kamâl al-dîn Abu ‘Abd-allah Muḥammad b. Humâm al-dîn ‘Abd-alwâḥid b. ‘Abd al-ḥamîd b. Sa’d al-dîn Mas’ûd Iskandarî Sîwâsî Ḥanafî, commonly called IBN AL-HUMÂM (d. A.H. 861). Cf. Ḥ. Kh. ii. 214, and Bibl. Sprenger. 604.

Beginning:

قال سیدنا و مولانا الشیخ الامام العالم العلامة فریدة (sic) دهره ووحید عصره مجتهد الانام الخ

The author states in his preface that his work comprises both the Ḥanafite and Shâfi’ite systems. It consists of an introduction, مقدمة, and three books, مقالات, whose subjects are المبادی و احوال الموضوع و الاجتهاد.

Well written, with a broad margin. The colophon runs as follows:

تم کتاب التحریر علی ید العبد الفقیر حسن محمد بن احمد1 غفر الله له و لوالدیه و لمالکه و لجمیع المومنین و المومنات بعد صلوة العصر فی شهر ذی الحجة من سنة ۹۸۸ تجاه الکعبة

Notes in the earlier portion.

On the title-page is an account of the author, according to which he was born in A.H. 790, and became a pupil of Ibn al-Shiḥnah (d. A.H. 815) and others. He was alike distinguished as a scholar and a Ṣûfî. He died at Cairo, on Friday, 7th Ramaḍan, 861.
