Politics and Democracy in the Federal Republic (Students, June 1968)

Political and college political attitudes of students as well as
individual attitude and behavioral changes after the assassination of
Rudi Dutschke and problems of German students with studies abroad.

Topics: 1. General political views: interest in politics and political
participation; image of society; ideas about politics and attitude to
democracy (scale); attitude to the political system of the FRG and
personal agreement with political parties; party membership and party
preference; judgement on social equal opportunities and differences in
living conditions of individual classes; political interest and party
preference of spouse and father; political difference of opinions with
father; attitude of father to National Socialism; sources of political
information and media usage; naming dictatorships; attitude to
violence; personal participation in protest actions.

Scales: fascism and dogmatism.

2. Student matters: participation in political activities in the area
of the college; ASTA membership; candidacy to student parlament;
attitude to the general political mandate of the members of the student
parlament; knowledge of political college groups and student leaders;
attitude to the SDS; knowledge about the goals of the SDS; judgement on
student demonstrations; attitude to college reform and satisfaction with
university operation and examination regulations; occupational goals and
occupation prospects; type of financing studies; academic status consciousness.

3. Studies abroad: general judgement on studies abroad; judgement on
information offering about studies abroad; expectations of studies
abroad; financing of studies abroad; organizations supporting and type
of scholarship; reasons for decision for choice of country, college and
college instructor; language difficulties abroad.

With students interested in studies abroad: desired country in which
to study and judgement on language proficiency; judgement on the
allocation criteria for scholarships; interest in short scholarships.

attitude to employment of married women, abortion and the death
penalty; friendships; family relationship of parents; family authority
