This study analyzes the thematic content of alcohol advertisements, how they shape consumption practices and whether this leads to disillusionment in the consumer. This research builds off of Strickland et al.'s 30 year-old content analysis of alcohol advertisements in magazines, to see how the prevalence of these themes have changed since the original study, which was published in 1982. A content analysis of 39 unique advertisements for alcohol from six magazines published in 2012 was carried out.
