Biodegradable polymers are attracting attention as one promising solution to approach the problems caused by plastic waste especially marine environment. However, most of biodegradable polymers show lower biodegradability at the such environment and biodegradation mechanism was still unclear. we isolated a biodegradable polymer degrading bacterium from a seawater collected from a quay in Yokosuka city. The strain has been characterized to clarify degradation mechanism of the polymer by the strain. The genome was sequenced by NGS. Our study suggests that the strain could be one of the microorganism that contribute in biodegradation of the polymer in the marine environment.
