A Database of Shear Wave Velocity Profiles from the United States

This dataset contains 539 shear wave velocity (Vs) profiles from across the United States. The Vs data herein were processed and standardized according to the procedure described in the README file, which also includes formatting and structure details. The data are provided in both Python and Matlab file formats. Each row/cell of the dataframe contains the information for one Vs profile, including: the identification number (ID); geographic coordinates in WGS84 (i.e., latitude and longitude decimal degrees); Vs measurements (m/s); and the corresponding top, midpoint, and bottom depths of the velocity interval (m).

The Vs profiles were sourced from various publicly available sources and made machine-readable for this dataset. References corresponding to each Vs source are provided in this repository.

This collection of Vs data has multiple potential uses, including soil velocity modeling and studies of subsurface variability, among others.
