This study tested the hypothesis of intermediate disturbance and biodiversity. The study site was in temperate red cypress forests of northern part of Taiwan. In 1999 a wildfire casued by hiking activity burned the area of 200 ha. In 2000, 7 plots each size of 25*25 m were set for study the post fire effect on biodiversity. The result showed that herious species supported the hypothesis. However, the woody species showed no significance of fire effects of the change of biodiversity
