<b>Context</b>: Agile development methodology has been widely adopted by industry and the demand for<br>skilled professionals in Agile-related roles is persistently high. Objectives: We target the role of Scrum<br>Master and investigate technical and soft skills related to this role, single or shared responsibilities<br>associated with this role, together with career path, all from a perspective of considering women<br>in Scum Master positions. <b>Method</b>: We conducted our study in two phases and combined several<br>empirical methods in order to perform a qualitative analysis of the results. <b>Conclusions</b>: Our<br>results identified communication, and management as most important soft skills, accompanied by<br>fundamental technical skills, such as programming, software development cycle and databases needed<br>for a Scrum Master role. In case of women, the position is mostly occupied by females with a technical<br>background, although non-technical background is a valid options, and the necessary skills are mostly<br>obtained through interactive learning methods (mentoring and training). Skills and experience gained<br>by women in Scrum Master role are valuable in management positions.<br>
