<b>Importance: </b>Pediatric sedation is crucial for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, with varying impacts and risks according to age, necessitating the recognition of these differences to improve safety and efficacy.<b>Objective: </b>To investigate whether age affects the occurrence of adverse events in sedated children, focusing on critical events such as respiratory depression, delayed resuscitation, and hypoglycemia.<b>Design: </b>This research represents a retrospective cohort study gathered pertinent data between March 2022 and March 2024.<b>Setting: </b>Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.<b>Participants: </b>Children aged 0 to 12 years classified as ASA grade I–II, with complete medical records.<b>Intervention:</b> Participants were categorized into three age groups: ≤1, 1–3, and 3–12 years.<b>Main Outcome(s) and Measure(s): </b>The primary outcome was adverse event incidence, which was analyzed using chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression. The sedation effect was evaluated using the rank-sum test.
