VPRS 15697 File Management Cards, Grazing and Cultivation Leases, Closer Settlement Act 1928

This series consists of file management cards for grazing and cultivation Leases issued usually under Section 99 Closer Settlement Act 1928 and regulations made under the Act. Other cards relate to the general leasing of vacant land on estates - often to sick soldiers. These individuals often held permits to occupy or conditional purchase leases under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Acts and were unable to continue due to war-caused illness. Details on the cards are the name and address of the lessee, the location and area of the land, any file number and the details of file management.Under Section 99 of the Closer Settlement Act 1928 permits could be issued for grazing and cultivation on land acquired by the Board but not yet disposed of or applied for under a conditional purchase lease. Other land which could be leased in a similar fashion was that where leases had been cancelled or revoked by the Board and where a new lease had not been granted or the land was to be sold.
