EPA Established Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs)
A TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) is a scientific determination of the maximum amount of a given pollutant that a surface water can absorb and still meet the water quality standards that protect human health and aquatic life. Waterbodies that do not meet water quality standards are identified as "impaired" for the particular pollutants of concern, for example: nutrients (total nitrogen/total phosphorus), chlorophyll a, fecal indicator bacteria, metals, etc. TMDLs must be developed, publicly noticed, adopted and implemented for the identified pollutants to reduce the pollutants and restore the waterbody so that designated uses are attained. This dataset contains only those TMDLs which have been established by the EPA and primarily address waterbody/pollutants that were identified on the 1998 303(d) list and served the purpose of meeting the 1998 consent decree requirements, which ended in 2012. EPA has not developed additional TMDLs in Florida since the end of the consent decree. This layer was created using data from the EPA website “Assessment, total maximum daily load (TMDL) Tracking and Implementation System (ATTAINS): https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/attains, but is also available through the EPA website “How’s My Waterway”: https://mywaterway.epa.gov/.
TMDL(总最大日负荷量,Total Maximum Daily Load)是一项科学判定结果,指在满足保护人类健康与水生生物的水质标准前提下,地表水体能够吸纳的特定污染物的最大负荷量。
