EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTS OF SELECTED POLYPHENOLS ON NMDA RECEPTOR ACTIVITY UNDER IN VITRO CONDITIONS

NMDA receptors play an important role in the central nervous system and are involved in synaptic transmission and memory processes. However, excessive activation of these receptors leads to excitotoxicity and neuronal damage. In recent years, polyphenols have been widely studied due to their antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. This review analyzes available scientific literature on the effects of polyphenols on NMDA receptor activity under in vitro conditions. The analysis shows that polyphenols reduce calcium influx mediated by NMDA receptors and decrease oxidative stress levels. These findings confirm their neuroprotective potential.
