Aggregated global journal infrastructure dataset: metadata completeness, indexing coverage, and publication economics

This dataset contains journal-level data for 62,858 active journals with CrossRef records (as of February 2026), integrating information from four public sources: CrossRef REST API (metadata completeness across six dimensions: abstracts, licensing, resource links, references, author affiliations, and editorial update policies); PubMed E-utilities API (indexing status); SCImago Journal Rank publicly available dataset (2024 release; impact metrics and geographic classification by UNCTAD region); and the Directory of Open Access Journals (article processing charge data where available). The dataset was assembled to support analysis of geographic disparities in journal infrastructure and is made available to facilitate further research on global scholarly communication inequities.
