The Latin American Approach To The Law Of The Sea

This piece of legal research collects and analyzes in some detail the positions of the Latin American countries regarding the law of the sea. Much of the material has not previously been readily available. This work presents the philosophy and historical development of Latin American claims to two hundred mile territorial waters; the specific individual views and laws of most of these nations regarding the exercise of jurisdiction in the "patrimonial sea" areas contiguous to their coasts; and a detailed examination of national statutes dealing with the exploration and exploitation of off-shore mineral and living marine resources.
