The folders in this dataset contain the following data: #FOLDER_1: Contains the following data: # Anatomy: Folder containing microscope images: + BDA_Injections: Microscope images of DMS or DLS striatum where somatosensory or visual cortex was injected with Biotin dextrane amine. + Viral_Injections: Microscope images of DMS or DLS striatum where somatosensory or visual cortex was injected with AAV2-EF1a-DIO-tdTomato-WPRE in Tlx3cre (IT) or OE25-cre (PT) transgenic animals; # DA_release: +DA_release: Experiments where dopamine was optogenetically released in the DMS by injecting the virus AAV5-hSyn-FLEX-ChrimsonR-tdTomato in the SNc ("DA_release" folder) and then compared it to the spontaneous activity file of each cell ("Spontaneous_activity" folder) to study how dopamine affects spontaneous activity parameters; + Negative_controls: Negative controls for the DA_release experiments, where the SNc was injected with the virus AAV5-CAG-FLEX-tdTomato instead of the virus that contains the opsin. For each cell, find the protocol of the dopamine release ("Negative" folder) and the spontaneous activity file ("Spontaneous_activity" folder) to compare. -- #FOLDER_2: Contains the following data: # Fiber_photometry_Ach: Data from fiber photometry experiments where acetylcholine was measured when sensory stimulation was performed by injecting AAV5-hSyn-GRAB-ACh3.0-GFP in the dorsolateral striatum (DLS). -- #FOLDER_3 to FOLDER_11: Contains the following data: # Fiber_photometry_Ach: Data from fiber photometry experiments where acetylcholine was measured when sensory stimulation was performed by injecting AAV5-hSyn-GRAB-ACh3.0-GFP in the dorsomedial striatum (DMS). All folders contain all the animals used for the experiments. -- #FOLDER_12: Contains the following data: # Fiber_photometry_dopamine: + Measurement: Data from fiber photometry experiments where dopamine was measured after optogenetic stimulation with AAV5-hSyn-FLEX-ChrimsonR-tdTomato virus injected in the SNc. "DMS" or "SNc" in the file name refers to the measurement location, dorsomedial striatum or substantia nigra pars compacta, respectively; + Negative_controls: Same from above, only difference is that the AAV5-hSyn-FLEX-ChrimsonR-tdTomato virus was the one injected in the SNc to perform experimental controls. -- #FOLDER_13: Contains the following data: # Interneurons: + Cholinergic_Interneurons: Raw recordings of 3 Cholinergic Interneurons. One of them has all the protocols in the same recording (cell 20161024) and the other two have the spontaneous activity protocols used to extract membrane properties ("sp_act") and the protocols were visual stimulation was performed ("optostim") used for visual stimulation examples in supplementary figure 1; + Fast Spiking_Interneurons: Raw recordings of 2 Fast Spiking Interneurons used to extract membrane properties; # Spontaneous_activity: Recordings of 33 MSNs (18 D1-MSNs + 15 D2-MSNs) where MSNs where identified as D1 or D2 with light pulses via optopatcher, and spontaneous activity was used to extract membrane properties. -- #FOLDER_14 and FOLDER_15: Contains the following data: # Sensory_stimulation_optostim: Recordings of 29 MSNs (14 D1-MSNs + 15 D2-MSNs) where sensory stimulation (tactile, visual, tactile+visual) and optogenetic release of dopamine was performed. Animals were injected with AAV5-hSyn-FLEX-ChrimsonR-tdTomato in the SNc. The two folders contain all the animals used for the experiments.
