The isolation of the novel metallaaziridine
complex [η3-(Me2CN)(Me2CHN)C10H6]TaCl2]2 (1) is presented. Complex 1 can be cleaved with 2-methylpyrroline
to yield the structurally characterized mononuclear
complex [η3-(Me2CN)(iPrN)C10H6]TaCl2(NC5H9), in which
the metallaaziridine remains intact despite the presence
of enolizable protons on the pyrroline. Metathesis reactions of 1 with LiC5Me5 or C6H5CH2MgCl provided
excellent yields of [η3-(Me2CN)(iPrN)C10H6]Ta(η5-C5Me5)Cl and [η3-(Me2CN)(iPrN)C10H6]Ta(CH2C6H5)2, respectively.
