Riparian Restoration to Protect Natural Resources and the Lower Great Barrier Reef

The project is designed to repair the flood damage along Splinter, Monal Creek, Three Moon Creek and the Burnett River in the area around Monto in the north region of the North Burnett Regional Council area. North Burnett Regional Council will provide assistance in the planning of the sites and restoration to be carried out.
Activities will include the removal of debris from the flooded areas to prevent further infrastructure damage downstream, weed control in the floodplain area and strategic planting to reduce the potential for further erosion. Ultimately the project seeks to establish effective buffers along riparian areas through revegetation restoring the appropriate native species to reduce the risk of future bank erosion.
