Observation and artificial experiment data related to the influence on nest-site selection by predators of critically endangered blue-crowned laughingthrush

All the data were collected and organized by the research team led by Professor Zhang Weiwei from Jiangxi Agricultural University. Based on years of comprehensive research, the National Conservation and Research Center for the Blue-crowned Laughingthrush was established after the establishment of the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Conservation Biology at Jiangxi Agricultural University in Nanchang.Data on all natural nests were sought out and measured during the breeding season (March to July) of the Blue-crowned Laughingthrush, encompassing ecological data including that of nesting trees. Every effort was made to measure as many indicators as possible, except for those that were extremely inaccessible. All surveyors were trained by Professor Zhang, and the results were reviewed and endorsed by her. The search for and monitoring of natural nests spanned from 2012 to 2024. Preliminary testing of simulated nests commenced in 2018, with large-scale and controlled experimental simulated nests primarily focused on in 2023 and 2024, under the leadership of the graduated master's student Gu Hangmin. All data underwent cleaning, classification, and processing under the guidance of Professor Zhang.
