Replication Data for: The Geography of Stigma Management: The Relationship Between Sexual Orientation, City Size, and Self-Monitoring

This study examines how self-monitoring varies by demography and geography. It was motivated by the questions: (1) do individuals with a minority sexual orientation engage in greater self-monitoring behavior than heterosexuals, and (2) is this difference moderated by geographic location? To answer these questions, we collected data using Amazon's Mechanical Turk on 1,000 respondents, administering an 18-item self-monitoring scale as well as a demographic questionnaire. We include here all data and files necessary to replicate the results in the study cited below. We excluded those observations without valid geographic identifiers as well as those whose responses on the sexual orientation item included \"don't know\" or \"not attracted to either sex\". This resulted in 979 observations.
