Seriality is not a device of modernity but a dimension of communication that operates on the possibility of recognizing and sharing the world. It identifies the regimes of meaning that enable the experience of the Aristotelian zòon politikòn, and thus also applies to the sphere of politics, to the socially organized networks that connect individuals to collective existence through the practices of the imagination. One of these practices - among the most enduring but also among those that most sensitively incorporate the changes underway in the complex fabric of society, as demonstrated by the phenomenon of fantasy football - is what we call sport, one of the preferred venues of mass culture as well as its outcomes. A privileged space of symbolic repetition, and therefore of ritual, sport translates the ordering demands of myth into industrial modernity, affecting and transforming the cultures of politics and the very logic of mass society.
