This dataset present species richness, community functional structure (inter and intraspecific trait variation, trait-trait covariation and functional diversity) and environmental data (soil Nitrogen, Carbon and moisture) from a subtropical forest. The dataset includes all the variables for 25 m<sup>2</sup>, 100 m<sup>2</sup>, 400 m<sup>2,</sup> and 1936 m<sup>2</sup> spatial grains, and further separation in adults and sapling categories for 400 m<sup>2,</sup> and 1936 m<sup>2</sup> spatial grains.
