VPRS 18042 Register of Circulars, Ways & Works Branch

This register was used to record the internal circulars which appear to have been issued by the Ways and Works Branch of the Victorian Railways (VA 2876).The circulars cover a wide range of administrative and operational matters. Examples of circulars registered include: Sample Time Sheet, W & W, No. 1 (plan room number 3682); Report on the Belgrave Accident (plan room number 3683); and Renewal of the Superstructure of Bridges (plan room number 3688). The location of the actual circulars however is unknown.The register includes a lithograph number that appears to be an annual single number, and the gaps and lack of order in the numbers suggest that they were part of a larger collection which probably included other types of records besides the circulars which are only record types recorded in this register.The register also contains a plan room number which is a sequential number starting at 3667 and finishing at 4648.The only extant volume in this series covers the period 1906 to 1928. It is possible that there was a preceding volume to the one in this series, however this is conjecture.
