STARCH, PROTEIN RESIDUE, AND ORGANIC RESIDUE (FTIR) ANALYSIS OF GROUND STONE TOOLS FROM SITE CA-MRP-305/H, YOSEMITE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

A total of five ground stones and one pestle were submitted for pollen, starch, protein residue, and organic residue (FTIR) analysis from site CA-MRP-305/H, located in the Yosemite Valley, and within the boundaries Yosemite National Park. This site is a milling station with contiguous deposits of pestles, handstones, and obsidian flakes. Archaeobotanical and organic residue analysis of these tools will provide information useful to the interpretation of ground stone tool function and subsistence resources.
