资源简介:
This collection comprises images and spreadsheets from a historic building survey at the former Midland Railway Carriage and Wagon Works at Washwood Heath, Birmingham. This work was undertaken by Connect Archaeology in May 2018 as part of the High Speed Two (HS2) railway infrastructure project. The building recording identified an engine house, boiler room, and the remains of a factory chimney stack. The significance of the site and the area as a hub for heavy industry has been eroded by the closure of the works and other industrial sites, and the aesthetic and architectural merit of the remaining original buildings on site is limited by their utilitarian design. The historic value of the site lies in its association with and contributions to the development of railway infrastructure during the 20th century.
