Replication package for "Passenger–freight coupling and multimodal spillovers shape China's transport emissions"

This record contains the replication package for the study “Passenger–freight coupling and multimodal spillovers shape China’s transport emissions”. The package includes harmonised transport activity, final energy use, carbon emissions estimates, processed decomposition variables, and Python scripts used to reproduce the main analyses and figures. The analyses cover China’s transport sector from 1999 to 2022, disaggregated by passenger and freight subsystems and by transport mode, including road, railway, domestic aviation, domestic navigation and pipeline transport. The code reproduces the carbon emissions accounting workflow, additive LMDI decomposition, passenger–freight VAR analysis, multimodal VAR analysis, impulse response functions, forecast error variance decomposition and decoupling classification. Raw third party source data are not redistributed where access is subject to provider terms; users should consult the original statistical sources listed in the README and Supplementary Information.
