This dataset contains the experimental data for the ERIES-SSTURBBO project. The overarching goal of the experimental campaign is the analysis of the effects caused by turbulent flows with different characteristics (turbulent intensity and turbulent length scale). To generate freestream turbulent flows with different characteristics two different approaches are adopted: grid induced turbulence and rod induce turbulence. The ratio 3:2 rectangular prism has been selected as the application case to study the effects of the turbulent flow on the aerodynamic and aeroelastic response. The tests consisted in the following tasks: 1. Flow characterisation In the empty wind tunnel, systematic measurements are taken using a transverse system fitted with one Cobra probe and three X-wire probes to record the velocity components at different locations of the wind tunnels for smooth flow and turbulent flow generated by two different grids, a 5 mm diameter rod and a combination featuring one grid upstream of the rod. 2. Static tests Measurements of the time-dependent forces and pressures around the fixed 3:2 rectangular prism for different angles of attack (0º, ±1º, ±2.5º, 4º, 6º, 8º, 10º, 12º, 15º, 20º, 25º, 30º, 45º, 60º, 70º, 80º and 90º), and different flow conditions (smooth flow, Grid 1, Grid 2, Rod position 1, Rod position 2. 3. Dynamic tests For the heave degree of freedom, recordings of the pressures around the 3:2 rectangular prism, and its displacements for different Scruton numbers and flow conditions (the same as for the static tests) are provided. 4. Mitigation Measurements of the pressures around the 3:2 rectangular prism, and its displacements for a Scruton number of 32 and smooth flow for a prototype of mitigation device, based on two rods, one place upwind of the prism and another downwind at a distance of 40 times the diameter of the rod with respect to the windward and leeward sides of the prism. 5. PIV Measurements of the velocity field in a vertical plane in the wake of the prism at the midspan for the static and dynamic configuration for different flow conditions (smooth flow, Grid 2 and rod in position 1 (40 times the diameter of the rod) for the static case and smooth flow and rod in position 1 for the dynamic test). For the static tests a single flow velocity was considered, while for the dynamic tests two different velocities were studied.
