In law, the independence of the judiciary is guaranteed. A YES score (100) is earned where all the following conditions are met: 1) the law establishes that the judiciary is independent from the executive and legislative branches, and 2) the law establishes the judiciary's right, authority or mandate to review laws, issue judicial decisions, and choose the cases heard by courts. A NO score (0) is earned where no such law exists, or a law exists but it does not include ALL of the elements described in YES.
