The VEGETATION sensor, sponsored by the European Commission, was launched aboard SPOT-4 in March 1998. SPOTVGT data for global vegetation cover monitoring was received starting from April 1998. This data was received by the Kiruna Ground Station in Sweden; the Image Quality Monitoring Center located in Toulouse, France, was responsible for image quality assessment and provided relevant parameters such as calibration coefficients. Finally, the VEGETATION processing Centre (CTIV) under the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) in Belgium preprocessed the data into daily 1 km global datasets. The preprocessing included atmospheric correction, radiometric correction, and geometric correction, and produced 10-day maximum composite NDVI data. Values ranging from -1 to -0.1 were set to -0.1, and then converted to DN values ranging from 0 to 250 using the formula DN = (NDVI + 0.1)/0.004. This dataset is the Shule River long-term time series vegetation index dataset, which primarily focuses on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). It contains 10-day composite four-band spectral reflectance data and 10-day maximum NDVI values from 1998 to 2008, with a spatial resolution of 1 km and a temporal resolution of 10 days (dekad).
