Data obtained in the aeromagnetic survey using drones carried out on Deception Island in Antarctica

This work has been done in the frame of ELGeoPoweR project entitled Geodynamic and lithospheric structure of the Powell-drake-Bransfield system, leaded by Dr. Manuel Catalán of the Royal Institute and Observatory of the Navy (ROA).
Here, we present a magnetic survey of Deception Island carried out by the Space Magnetism Area of INTA in the XXXV Spanish Antarctic Campaign (2022 January). The survey comprises on ground very high-resolution measurements including gradiometry, and high-resolution on board Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), covering an area of 10 km2 of the island. The goal is to provide new and more detailed magnetic data on the Island to monitor the variations of the magnetic signature as part of the evolution of the Powell-drake-Bransfield system, to the North of the Antarctic Peninsula, whose characterization is the main objective of EL GeoPoweR project.
The magnetic data obtained from the flights carried out in the different areas of scientific interest explored have been made available to the entire scientific community on the website of the National Center for Polar Data of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC).
