In accordance with section 18 of the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance (Cap 541), the Electoral Affairs Commission (“EAC”) submitted to the Chief Executive (“CE”) a report on its recommendations on the constituencies boundaries for the 2003 District Council Ordinary Election on 22 April 2003. The CE in Council accepted the recommendations on 13 May 2003 and, pursuant to section 6 of the District Councils Ordinance (Cap 547), made the Declaration of Constituencies (District Councils) Order 2003, which became effective on 23 May 2003 after the Legislative Council completed the negative vetting. The delineation of constituencies came into operation on 1 January 2004. For details about the delineation exercise, please refer to the abovementioned report, which is available at the EAC’s website (www.eac.hk).
