We propose to conduct the first hard X-ray study of I Zwicky 1 openParI Zw 1closePar comma a unique AGN that will yield great insight into the physical processes associated with accretion and the extreme environments around supermassive black holes. Rapid variability is seen in the X-ray emission as the corona evolves as well as complex comma variable absorption from outflows. I Zw 1 is the first AGN in which there is evidence for distinct structures within the corona comma including a core akin to the base of a jet. We propose to observe I Zw 1 for 250ks using NuSTAR comma 130ks simultaneous with XMM-Newton. This will yield the most detailed comma dynamic picture of how the corona is structured and how it evolves comma transforming our understanding of how the corona and accretion disc drive AGN feedback.
