To investigate the effect of irradiation on gut microbiota, fecal samples were collected from mice which were either non-irradiated, irradiated at low-dose (2.5 Gy) or high-dose (8 Gy) for 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12-16 weeks post-irradiation. To characterize the tissue microbiota of human samples, 16S sequencing was performed on bacterial culutres of plasma samples from young or old healthy individuals, IBD and MDS patients.
