Published shortly before Anfinsen received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1943, this is a quantitative, histochemical study of the retina in which the three researchers adapted an earlier technique for the identification of chemical components in cells and tissues that was developed by Kaj Linderstrom-Lang and K.R.
