Coding log of gameplay episodes: Red Dead Redemption 2
收藏资源简介:
Ongoing coding log of gameplay episodes from a doctoral study on the procedural configuration of narrative identity in Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar Games, 2018), conducted within the Doctorado Interinstitucional en Arte y Cultura (DIAC) at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo. Each row records a single episode: a moment in which a decision by the player meets an observable response of the system, attributable to the honour system or to the structure of rules rather than to narrative contingency. Fields include the source recording and timecode, the diegetic location, the action performed, the state of the honour device before and after it, the response returned by the game world, the force-signs operating in the scene, and a level-of-evidence field distinguishing what the recording shows from what is inferred by the analyst. This is a work in progress. Version 1.0 covers Chapter 1 (Colter): four source recordings totalling approximately 2 hours 27 minutes, captured on 24–25 September 2026, from which ten episodes were coded. Later chapters will be released as successive versions under the same concept DOI. Each version remains fixed once published, so a citation to a specific version resolves to the material exactly as it stood when that argument was made. The annotation is analytic and retrospective: entries were written after play, from the recordings, and not contemporaneously with the act of playing. This condition is declared in the accompanying study and is what the level-of-evidence field is designed to make legible. The DOI of the published proceedings chapter will be added to this record's related identifiers once available.
