Using XMM to study the TeV Halos Surrounding Energetic Pulsars

Recent HAWC observations establish a new class of extended, IC dominated, TeVsources coincident with middleaged radio pulsars. These TeV halos.. areexpect to produce extended, diffuse Xray emission that is distinct but fainterthan the Xray emission of the pulsar point source and its more compact PWN. Assuch, we propose to take advantage of both XMM.s large collecting area and highspatial and spectral resolution to detect and characterise the properties andpresence of these extended Xray structures associated with HAWC sources, 2HWCJ1831 098 and 2HWC J1912+099.
