Global patterns of surgical research production: a bibliometric analysis of thoracic surgery literature - dataset

This dataset contains the full bibliometric data underlying the study entitled "Global patterns of surgical research production: a bibliometric analysis of thoracic surgery literature." The dataset includes 972 publications on primary spontaneous pneumothorax indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection between January 1, 2000 and October 15, 2025. Variables include first author name origin, inferred gender (NamSor API v2), institutional country income classification (World Bank definitions), journal impact factor, quartile ranking, journal country, and related bibliometric indicators.
