Summary of published 40Ar/39Ar and K-Argon ages available for Heard Island in 2021. This file summarises rock samples from Heard Island that have been isotopically dated and were plotted on the Heard Island Geology Map or are from locations that will be suitable for isotopic dating in the future. The file includes, locations (latitudes, longitudes in decimal degrees), confidence in latitude/longitude position classifications (Low (imprecise place name), Medium (detailed site description), High (detailed site description with reliable landmarks provided)), location names, sample age (if it has been dated), error (2σ), age type, analysing laboratory, rock types, formation, collecting geologist and sampling comments. Latitudes and longitudes were determined from field descriptions cross referenced to Google Earth positions. Field and rock descriptions were obtained from the personal field notes and records of Dr Jane Barling (ANARE 1986/1987) which are retained by Dr Barling at Oxford University and in the case of Dr Clarke’s samples latitudes and longitudes were determined from location descriptions provided inn Clarke et al (1983).Sources for the age data in this file:1.
