Microbiome analysis of probiotic treatment in MIA ferrets

This experiment aims to determine the microbial basis for the effects of probiotic treatment on the behavior of maternal immune activation ferrets. Maternal immune activation (MIA) ferrets exhibit an autism-like phenotype that is ameliorated by probiotic treatment. The goal of this study was to identify organisms that mediated this effect as a putative mechanism for this effect. This is relevant to understanding the MIA ferret model, and the effect of probiotics in humans.
