Scomberomorus guttatus Genome sequencing

The Indo-Pacific king mackerel (Scomberomorus guttatus) is a valuable marine fishery resource with highly commercial value in the Indo-Pacific region. Meanwhile, it is a top predator in the ocean with strong swimming ability, which allows Indo-Pacific king mackerel to catch prey, avoid predators and undertake long-distance migrations effectively. However, the underlying genetic basis and molecular mechanisms are still not clear due to the lack of genomic resources. Herein, we assembled a high-quality chromosome-level genome of Indo-Pacific king mackerel by combining PacBio HiFi reads and a chromosome contact map (Hi-C). Our study not only elucidates the special mechanism of adaptive evolution of high-speed swimming fish, but also provides a reference for future sustainable management of these highly economic biological resources.
