From 2014-2018 The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs conducted a selective badger culling and vaccination trial in 100 km2 area in Co. Down Northern Ireland to assess effects on bovine tuberculosis in cattle. Mycobacterium bovis cultures from culled animals (cattle and badgers) were DNA extracted and genome sequenced to permit a phylodynamics investigation.
