The Phytophthora infestans causes the devastating late blight diseases of potatoes. Whereas, the wild solanum spp. are reported as useful genetic resources for potato resistant breeding. To characterize the molecular basis of defense mechanism of wild potato species Solanum pinnatisectum against Phytophthora infestans infection, we utilize RNA-seq technique to investigated the expression profile of S. pinnatisectum. Based on histological obsevations of infected leaf tissues, 0, 3, 9 and 12 hpi as time points to investigate the transcriptional dynamics of S. pinnatisectum compared to susceptible control S. cardiophyllum.
