In this project we identified a chlorophyll deficient tomato mutant from an ethylmethanesulfonate (EMS) mutagenesis population of Ailsa Craig. Genetic analysis revealed that the phenotype of the chlorophyll deficient was regulated by a single recessive gene. We applied Bulk Segregation Analysis in the F2 cross population derived from the mutant and LA1589 to map this gene. Genome resequencing of two pools of different traits from the F2 populaiton and two parent lines allowed us to identify candidate regions for this mutant. Together with genome sequences of Ailsa Craig generated in this project, we were able to pinpoint the most plausible causal gene.
